(K) OKINAWA KARATE DŌ — KATA (S) SHINJINBUKAN — SYLLABUS A set of two Katas from the Shuri Ti tradition, practiced by all Shōrin Ryū styles and part of the Shinjinbukan curriculum: Passai Dai and Passai Sho. Also, in the Shinjinbukan School Passai Dai is referred only as "Passai". In Japanese Karate these Katas are called Bassai. See Passai Dai , Passai Shō

(K) OKINAWA KARATE DŌ — KATA (S) SHINJINBUKAN — SYLLABUS Lit. The Large Passai. The "greater" of the two Passai Katas from the Shuri Ti tradition, practiced by all Shōrin Ryū styles and part of the Shinjinbukan curriculum. It has been the preferred demonstration kata of the late masters Chibana Chōshin, Higa Yūchoku, as well as Onaga Yoshimitsu and Onaga Michiko. In the Shinjinbukan School, Passai Dai is just called "Passai". In Japanese Karate Passai Dai is known as Bassai Sho. See Passai , Passai Shō

All five Pinan katas are attributed to Ankoh Itosu, who was the teacher of Chibana Chōshin. In Japanese Karate these Katas are called Heian.
