THE SHINJINBUKAN LINEAGE

Nowadays, there are hundreds of Karate styles, which can trace their origins back to Okinawa.  Shorin Ryu, the oldest style in the world, is also divided into several lineages.  See   HISTORY

Shinjinbukan's lineage is called Kobayashi Ryu, and was founded by Chibana Choushin.  Hence, our lineage is also known as Chibana Ha.  Regardless of the huge differences among the Kobayashi Ryu schools, the most significant similarity is the hip technique, or Koshi, which is quite noticeable during Katas, movement & makiwara training.

One of the reasons modern Karate styles and lineages originated is because for several generations, most teachers lacked the knowledge of Ti.  In contrast, Onaga Sensei's teachings are based on Ti, the ancient Okinawan Martial Art, which preceded modern Karate.  This is the greatest legacy carried by the Shinjinbukan School.
